Sri Lanka vs India: BCCI announce squad for ODI series, Shardul Thakur earn call-up

India, who are now in Sri Lanka, have already sealed the Test series 2-0, with the third Test now being played.

The national selection committee made a decision to rest all senior bowlers - pacers Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav along with spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

The flamboyant left-handed all-rounder, who is a two-time World Cup victor, has represented India in 304 ODIs since making his debut against Kenya in 2000. Ever since his 32-ball 53 against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, Yuvraj has gone six innings without a half-century, and managed only 57 runs in his three most recent innings in the West Indies.

MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya have also been included.

RohitSharma, who was rested for the West Indies series, returns and will be the vice-captain of the side.

Another significant announcement was the appointment of Rohit Sharma as the vice-captain of the team.
