US Sanctions Pave Road To War

Lawmakers gave the go ahead for the crafting of the bill which is aimed at countering "America's terrorist and adventurist actions", according to the state broadcaster IRIB.

Iranian lawmakers unanimously passed the general outlines of the bill in a 240-0 vote with one abstention.

On July 18, the U.S. Administration announced putting on a blacklist 18 organizations and persons, supporting the Iranian ballistic missile program, Iran's military purchases and IRGC.

The US legislation would impose mandatory penalties on people involved in Iran's ballistic missile program and anyone who does business with them.

Mehbooba opposes repeal of Kashmir's special status - Newspaper
"This has yet again exposed Ms Mufti and her party", said NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar. Any decision by the Supreme Court will have far-reaching consequences.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have grown since President Trump took office.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the bill passed on Sunday had the support of the government.

Araghchi, also in defense, said the countermeasure bill is "much stronger" than US Congress bill against Iran, since it also extends support to the Islamic Republic's armed forces and all related ministries.

The bill is "very smart particularly because it doesn't violate the nuclear deal and doesn't allow the other side to make excuses", he added.

Mariners' lefty James Paxton leaves game with injury
The Seattle Mariners placed starting pitcher James Paxton on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left pectoral muscle. Erasmo Ramirez gave up just an unearned run on three hits over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision.

He was referring to a 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, known officially as the JCPOA, under which Iran agreed to strict limits on its nuclear programme in exchange for an easing of sanctions.

The bill must now pass a second vote before being submitted to the Guardians Council for final approval and passage into law.

But last month he backed away from his pledge to withdraw from the agreement.

Iran denies developing ballistic missiles created to carry nuclear weapons in violation of the agreement and has accused the United States of breaking its word by imposing fresh sanctions.
