Nerf guns can pose serious eye risk doctors warn

Emergency medicine specialists have issued a timely caution that the popular Nerf gun toys are not as innocuous as they appear.

Doctors are now concerned about the potential for these guns to harm the eyes and lead to serious eye injuries.

"Children's eyes are more prone to damage because they are smaller, although both children and adults are at risk from this sort of problem".

Doctors say the eye injuries can lead to cataracts and glaucoma. Moorfields Eye Hospital Ophthalmologists wrote this in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) in its BMJ Case Reports section warning parents against providing their kids with toy guns with projectiles.

The spokeswoman said unbranded Nerf guns may have harder material.

11-year-old boy, the bullet got into his right eye from two metres, and he was observed all the same symptoms.

One 32-year-old man was shot in the eye from eight metres away by a child with a Nerf gun.

Natalie Hearn-Smith's seven-year-old son was accidentally shot in the eye at "point blank" range by one of his friends.

Fortunately for all three of the victims all ended well, however, doctors warn that bullets fired from such guns as Nerf, have decent speed and can hit to cause long-term loss of vision.

The patients were given eye drops, and when they went for their check-ups their sight had returned and the bleeding had stopped.

Apple iPhone 8 review
Sure, if you would like to have one of the newest devices and think that the X is too expensive, you could do that. This year a very special phone called the iPhone X has taken that spot.

No safe distance for avoidance of significant eye trauma can be established from the cases seen, researchers said.

The medics also said a patient had told them that non-branded, cheaper bullets that fit Nerf guns are on sale.

Doctors warned cheaper, non-branded bullets could be even more risky as they were harder - while YouTube videos showed children how they could modify the toys to make them shoot "harder, faster, further".

Manufacturer Hasbro said products meet or exceed regulations.

The doctors have also called for a review on the minimum age requirement for using Nerf guns, which, upon completion, should help parents decide whether their child should be allowed to play with Nerf guns.

Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein interviewed over Federal Bureau of Investigation ex-director's firing
It is unlikely that Mueller's team views Rosenstein as a key witness , given the fact that he's yet to recuse himself. Unnamed White House officials told the Times says Mueller has requested official documents on 13 different areas.

"Nerf foam darts and foam rounds are not hazardous when used properly". Consumers must never aim NERF blasters at a person's eyes or face, should only use the foam darts and foam rounds designed for specific NERF blasters, and never modify darts or blasters.
