Swaraj in a tweet assured all possible help to Evangelin.

The man, identified as Evgenii Berdnikov (24) - his name also being reported as Evangelin by some, had a valid passport and visa and arrived in India on September 24. After searching in vain for fellow Russian tourists across the temple town, he finally sat down at a temple and began to seek alms. He had gone to an ATM kiosk near the Kumarakottam temple on West Raja Street on Tuesday morning. While he was staying at Kancheepuram, he went to an ATM to withdraw some cash and found his ATM PIN locked.

An apparently frustated Evangelin then made a decision to seek alms at the temple entrance, police said.
