Oct. 12 Letters: National anthem

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Rishard Matthews made it clear Thursday he will not stand for the national anthem nor will he allow himself to be forced to stand. The tweet in question has since been deleted.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey said he could not comment because he learned of Matthews' tweet after practice and had not talked to the player yet.

ZTE Launches Nubia Z17 Mini S With Dual Camera Setup
In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5.73-inch LTPS TFT all-screen display with a resolution of 1080×2040 pixels. On the inside, the Nubia Z17S uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of LP-DDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage.

The NFL and NFLPA released a joint statement Wednesday confirming that there has been no change to the policy that recommends, but doesn't require, players to stand for the anthem.

Since President Trump's September 23 criticism of NFL players' national anthem protests, Matthews has vowed to continue kneeling until the President apologizes.

The US official said there are some questions surrounding Boyle's past, but the Department of Justice said he did not face arrest. Adventurous travelers, Coleman and Boyle had planned a backpacking trip through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan in 2012.

One NFL player says he will "be done playing football" if the league requires him to stand during the national anthem. Commissioner Roger Goodell, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith and player leadership will attend league meetings next week to discuss how to progress on social issues and discuss the subject of protesting during the anthem in a larger scale. Should be really interesting to if he ends up following through on his threat or not.

"Moving forward, I don't want this to be a publicity stunt", Matthews told ESPN last month. This is a movement that started as a protest against the prejudice and oppression many minorities in America face - especially as it relates to police brutality. It should be worth noting that the players are peacefully protesting, though, and they aren't protesting the national anthem itself. This is the kind of thing you would expect to find in totalitarian nations, but not in a free state.
