President Trump Attack NBC News Over Nuclear Report

U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawai'i), Ranking Member of the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation and the Internet, released the following statement today after President Donald Trump threatened to challenge NBC's broadcast license.

Mr Tillerson last week refused to confirm that he had called the President that, and Mr Trump has said that those reports are fake news.

Trump's tweet comes after NBC News ran a story citing three anonymous US officials who said Trump wanted to increase the USA nuclear arsenal by almost 10 times.

ZTE Launches Nubia Z17 Mini S With Dual Camera Setup
In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5.73-inch LTPS TFT all-screen display with a resolution of 1080×2040 pixels. On the inside, the Nubia Z17S uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 8GB of LP-DDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage.

In his earlier tweet, the President had asked, albeit rhetorically, when it was appropriate to start challenging news outlets' licenses.

They can not influence, they can not dictate, so unfortunately for Donald Trump just because somebody says something that he doesn't like, that doesn't give you grounds as president to revoke their license and prohibit them from operating in the United States.

Responding to Mr Trump's musing about revoking licenses for broadcast networks critical of him, former U.S. federal prosecutor and frequent Trump critic Preet Bharara called the President childish. Still, analyst called the threat alarming-and reminiscent of the failed Watergate-era attempts of Richard Nixon's allies to challenge the licenses of TV stations owned by the Washington Post. And cable news outlets need no license. And under federal law and the 1st Amendment, those local stations can't lose their licenses unless they run seriously afoul of the commission's rules - none of which deal with the quality or even the fairness of a station's programming.
