Trump to nominate White House aide as DHS secretary

President Trump formally announced his nomination Thursday of top White House official Kirstjen Nielsen for secretary of homeland security.

On Wednesday, she greeted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau to the White House in a jaw-dropping grey pinstripe pantsuit outfit. "Truly, there is nothing more valuable than to feel safe in your own country". Trump said Nielsen's appointment would make her the first former DHS employee to run the entire agency. She is his choice to replace John Kelly, who is now Trump's chief of staff. Her supporters say she has been trying to help professionalize the White House. "There, she quickly reinforced a sterling reputation as a dedicated leader whose number one priority is always the safety and security of our country and our citizens, not politics or ideology".

The plan included instructions on how to remove leader Kim Jong-un in the case of war. A U-2S high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft has been deployed by the U.S.

Trump added: "That sets her apart". "She is ready on Day 1".

As DHS secretary, Nielsen will be expected to push Trump's travel ban efforts as well as his promises on immigration, including the construction of a wall at the U.S. However, this was not her first time working in the White House, as she previously served in President George W. Bush's administration as the special assistant for prevention, preparedness and response on the Homeland Security Council.

Lufthansa to sign deal with bankrupt Air Berlin
Investors also appeared pleased with news of the proposed deal, as shares in Lufthansa traded 3% higher by lunchtime on Thursday. A Lufthansa spokesman declined to provide further details because the agreement had not yet been signed.

But Nielsen has also been the subject of scrutiny over her current role at the White House.

That episode of her career may become a target for Senate Democrats during the confirmation process. The company will be counting a great deal on her experience and expertise. They were allowed to remain in the country under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), whose protections will begin to expire in March, leaving them potentially facing deportation.
