Ben Affleck to be replaced as Batman by director Matt Reeves?

To set Matt Reeves' Batman movie outside of the DCEU shared universe (as another one of DC Films' standalone movies, like upcoming Joker origin film). However, his casting might not be far-fetched. Whether Gyllenhaal's Batman is a younger version of Affleck's, continues where Affleck's version left off or even exists in a separate continuity, it would be interesting to see what kind of gravitas he brings to DC's infamous Dark Knight. With the new rumor, fans have been speculating on how Gyllenhaal might fare as the Dark Knight, though the actor himself has previously commented on how he would approach portraying Batman during a 2015 interview on The Howard Stern Show.

Gyllenhaal appears to be joking about his take on the Caped Crusader, though the thought has probably crossed his mind in the past considering he auditioned for the role Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins.

Still, there is a possibility that Affleck will return as Bruce Wayne in "The Batman" and maybe pass his cape down to another character. But, he did note that he is not producing that movie, so things may end up differently. The addition of Reeves not only took directing pressure off of the actor, but also saw the removal of Affleck's script.
