Obama remembers breaking out his 'dad strikes' at Prince live performance

There are five more episodes of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, so Letterman will have other chances to wrangle a compelling interview out of the series (his next guest is George Clooney), but unfortunately the former late night host missed his shot with likely his biggest interview subject. Let's get that out of the way. As a late night host, Letterman at times had been noticeably unenthused to interview random starlets or young celebrities about upcoming projects.

The Obama's largely respected the custom of not knocking the sitting president, save for criticizing President Trump's immigration policies without naming him.

"You never know when you might learn something", Letterman said of his new show.

Obama also says he's not about to return to presidential politics.

His new series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, kicks off with an hour-long interview with former US president Barack Obama, but quickly takes a detour into the Deep South.

There is also a notification icon that is persistent and it can bring the call into view even on navigating away from the call. As soon as the call is made, the recipient will immediately be able to see what is being shown through the caller's camera.

The no-Trump-talk edict pretty clearly came from Obama's camp, as he's kept his remarks about Trump's horrendous first year in an arguably too-reserved, tight-lipped lock. We are operating in different information universes.

Now we're watching a short documentary showing Letterman meeting with Rep. John Lewis, congressman and activist, recalling his historic 1965 march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge.

The Boston Globe's Matthew Gilbert described Letterman's talk with Obama as " a frustrating exercise in talking a lot but, ultimately, saying very little".

In the premiere episode, he had Barack Obama in the hot seat to talk about what he's done since his time as President of the United States.

What does an interview with David Letterman look like in 2018?

All-new Ford Ranger debuts
The available Smart Trailer Tow connector makes towing safer and easier by alerting the driver of any faulty trailer connections. The Lariat model will also come with adaptive cruise control and a pre-collision assist system with pedestrian detection.

"I have a story about Malia that I've not told anyone", Letterman tells Obama, who has his eyebrows raised in suspicion.

After Barack Obama appeared as the first guest on David Letterman's new Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, several of the amusing stories shared between the two are making their own headlines. "Something's wrong here", Letterman quipped. And you can imagine that hour repeated, say, weekly, with Obama engaging other interesting people in wide-ranging, intelligent discussions of the issues of the day.

"He fawns over his guest more than he should, he makes awkward jokes about this new-fangled thing called Netflix, and he drives the conversation into a mutual children-appreciation session so that he can enthuse about his son and Obama can enthuse about his daughters". Letterman's now-trademark post-retirement overgrown beard is still present.

Having tried his hand at non-mainstream TV as a roaming guest correspondent on the season 2 première of Years of Living Dangerously, Showtime's documentary series focused on global warming (he travelled to south Asia to assess India's electrical-power grid), Letterman seems to have found the idea of occasional television quite appealing. That's not really the point, it appears. And really just seeing what they want to talk about when they get together. That's it. Nothing revolutionary here. And a few times it seems Obama should be the one interviewing Letterman.
