Syrian army takes town in Ghouta from insurgents: Hezbollah media unit

The non-governmental Syrian Human Rights Observatory said that more than 20,000 people have fled Eastern Ghouta, where the town of Hummriyeh which fell Thursday to Syrian government forces.

As many as 10,000 civilians evacuated rebel-held areas in the Syrian capital Damascus' Eastern Ghouta area on Saturday, state news agency SANA reported.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a jihadist group made mostly of ex-members of a former Al-Qaeda affiliate, also has a presence in Eastern Ghouta but is not a signatory to the statement.

Syrian opposition activists are reporting that dozens of people were killed and scores wounded when an airstrike hit a rebel-held town east of the capital Damascus.
