Bayern Munich have eliminated Besiktas in UEFA Champions League's Round of 16 tie on an 8-1 aggregate, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

Leading 5-0 from the first leg in Germany, there was little chance of an upset for the Turkish club and an early goal from Thiago Alcantara ensured the hosts' hopes were extinguished.

Besiktas found their only goal of the evening with Brazilian striker Vagner Love in the 59th minute, but the first leg score of 5-0 gave a great advantage to Bayern Munich.

It was a record 11th straight victory in the competition for coach Jupp Heynckes, who had led Bayern to the title in 2013 before retiring and returning this season.

Besiktas are unbeaten in their last six Champions League home games, though five of these have ended as draws (W1).

Bayern gifted Besiktas a consolation just before the hour when Alaba lost possession from a short goal kick and Gonul slipped in Love who managed to steer a shot inside the far post.

Bayern added a second soon after the break, when Gökhan Gonul turned home into his own net in the 46th minute.

Alaba atoned with a crucial block to deny Besiktas forward Mustafa Pektemek soon after, and the Austrian set up Wagner on 84 minutes as his deflected cross was chested over the line by the substitute.
