The 75-year-old comedian made the controversial remark last month while discussing comments made by Omarosa on "Celebrity Big Brother".

Pence praised her for reaching out, but he told Fox News host Sean Hannity Monday he hoped she would make a public statement to the "tens of millions of Americans" who were offended by her comments.

The Washington Post also talked to Behar's manager Bill Stankey, who confirmed that she really apologized to the vice president through a phone call.

Iger responded by saying, "I don't know where I start". "It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance".

Tuesday, Behar caved and apologized live on air.

Iger told the crowd he was "glad to hear" Behar apologized because he "takes exception" to what she said.

The right-wing Media Research Center launched an effort to hold "The View" accountable for promoting "anti-Christian bigotry", according to an open letter to ABC News from the group's president, Brent Bozell.
