The body of a 12-year-old Indian boy was found in Eel River after he went missing along with his family on April 6.

The body of Siddhant Thottapilly was found at about 4 p.m. submerged in the Eel River about 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) downstream from where the family auto reportedly crashed, Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Capt. Gregory L. Van Patten said in a statement.

The bodies of his father, 41-year-old Sandeep Thottapilly, and 9-year-old sister Saachi Thottapilly, were found inside the submerged auto on Sunday.

Investigators also have identified a body recovered Friday as belonging to Sandeep Thottapilly's wife, 38-year-old Soumya.

School board, community members recognized
School board president Mona Kirk said there were 15 completed applications received and six were selected from that pool. High school officials contacted Rapacz, who worked with detectives to find and interview the student and his guardian.

On Sunday, searchers discovered a vehicle in the river about a half-mile downstream of the reported crash site, near Leggett, the sheriff's office said. Still missing is the Thottapillys' son Siddhant, 12; search and rescue efforts are still underway to find the young boy.

Now that the vehicle has been recovered, the highway patrol will conduct a complete mechanical inspection as part of the accident investigation.

A poster shared by friends and family on Facebook said their last known location was the "Klamath-Redwood National Park area". The search consisted of 21 water searchers, which included two jet-ski teams, two boat teams and several Kayak/Carlson board teams.

They had been traveling from Portland, Ore., and were supposed to meet with relatives in San Jose the following day before going back to their home in Santa Clarita, Calif., just outside Los Angeles.

Before the family was known to be missing, authorities in Mendocino County received reports that a vehicle southbound on US 101 went off the highway and tumbled into the Eel River.

Farther south, authorities were still looking for the missing members of a different family whose SUV plunged off a towering ocean bluff along the Pacific Coast Highway last month. The crash killed a married couple, Jennifer Jean Hart and Sarah Margaret Hart, both 38, and at least three of their six children.

The captain noted that the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Division identified on April 15 the body it had found two days earlier as Soumya Somanath Thottapilly.
