Cops Fired After Blaming Mice for Missing Half-Ton of Weed

According to the report, the policemen claimed that "mice have eaten" the enormous portion of the drug. But when investigators went to check on it, they found more than half a ton of it - 540kg to be exact - had disappeared. There was 6,000kg of marijuana registered in the warehouse last year, but mysteriously, only 5,460kg remained this year.

Suspicion fell on Specia after he left the inventory for the marijuana unsigned before leaving his role in April 2017. His replacement, commissioner Emilio Portero, noticed the shortfall and notified the force's internal affairs division, who inspected the warehouse.

Scientists have cast doubt on the officers' claim, saying mice wouldn't mistake the drug for food.

Coli Outbreak Hits 7 States, Source Is Unknown
Four days later the CDC announced a multistate outbreak of E. coli O157of unknown origin that includes the New Jersey cluster. Restaurants and retailers are not advised to avoid serving or selling any particular food.

The disappearance of the drugs was discovered during an inspection of a police warehouse for impounded drugs in the town of Pilar, 60km outside the capital city of Buenos Aires.

That explanation didn't fly with forensics experts, who testified that mice wouldn't have mistaken marijuana for food - and if they had done so, "a lot of corpses would have been found in the warehouse", a spokesperson for Judge Adrián González Charvay said.

Four more policemen are due to give testimonies on May 4.

Despite calling 911 for help, teen dies after being pinned by minivan seat
The teen's parents then used an app to track his cellphone and called police, reporting that their son was missing, police said. And it's not clear if anyone - police officers, the deputy, or 911 officials - ever contacted the school about Plush's call.

It's not yet clear if the drugs went missing due to the officers negligence or if the officers had a purposeful hand in the missing drugs.
