Mets' Kevin Plawecki has broken left hand, report says

D'Arnaud, who has experienced a multitude of injuries throughout his six years in the majors, appeared in a career-high 112 games for the Mets last season, hitting 16 home runs and driving in 57.

Kevin Plawecki should return in roughly a month, but if his injury lingers then the Mets need to be proactive.

News of d'Arnaud's surgery came on the same day the Mets announced their other main catcher, Kevin Plawecki, has a hairline fracture in his left hand. "But that certainly could change".

Items found belonged to missing California family
The department tried to contact the family at their home the day that it received the complaint, March 23, but were unsuccessful. Jen and Sarah Hart , both originally from South Dakota, were the adoptive mothers of their six children from Texas.

Among available stopgaps, two-time All-Star Miguel Montero was designated for assignment earlier this week by Washington, while veterans such as Ryan Hanigan, Geovany Soto and Chooch Ruiz also remain unsigned.

"I think we're comfortable for the very short term". The Mets, however, said a follow-up MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NY on Thursday revealed the fracture.

Tomas Nido, recalled from Double-A Birmingham on Wednesday, figures to take over as the primary catcher in the interim.

Billionaire seeks to separate California into three states
Under U.S. federal law, splitting California would require congressional approval even if the proposal is placed on state ballot. But it failed to get the required number of signatures to qualify, and the measure never went before voters in the 2016 polls.

New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud will undergo Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow.

The Mets said before Friday's game against Milwaukee that Plawecki was going to the DL, retroactive to Thursday.

Meanwhile, Mets left-hander Jason Vargas (broken bone in right hand) pitched a simulated game Thursday in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and probably will have another simulated outing before a likely minor league rehabilitation start. The Mets also recalled outfielder Brandon Nimmo from Las Vegas and optioned right-hander Jacob Rhame to the 51s.
